GPS file converter

Convert GPX, KML, KMZ, and FIT in the browser. Pick the formats. The file stays on your device.

  • Any GPS file in
  • GPX, KML, or KMZ out
  • Nothing uploaded

Choose a source and a result, then drop the file. A link can preselect the formats, for example KML to GPX. Named pages such as FIT to GPX open the same converter with those formats already chosen.

Your file never leaves your device.

How to convert a GPS file

  1. 1

    Choose the formats

From is the file you have. To is the file you want. FIT can be read. GPX, KML, and KMZ can be saved.

  2. 2

    Open the file

Drop it or choose it. The browser reads the tracks and the points. Nothing is sent to a server.

  3. 3

    Download or view

Save the file, or open it on the map. The original file on your device is left as it was.

Privacy

Your file never leaves your device. There is no upload and no account. Closing the tab drops the file from this page.

Questions

Does the file get uploaded?

No. The browser reads the file where it already is. GPS Toolset does not receive a copy.

Which formats can I convert?

Open GPX, KML, KMZ, or FIT. Save GPX, KML, or KMZ. FIT can be read and turned into one of those. It is not written back.

Can I choose the formats in the address?

Yes. A link such as /convert?from=kml&to=gpx opens this page with those formats selected. Named pages such as /convert/kml-to-gpx do the same.

What is kept?

Tracks, routes, waypoints, and time and elevation when the file has them. Photos and other attachments are skipped. The result is the path.

Can I see it on a map?

Yes. View on the map opens the converted file in the matching viewer.
